Multicast traffic issue

We've configured our GS cluster to NOT use multicast, however, after months of no multicast traffic, I now see the following type of traffic when running WireShark:

Internet Protocol, Src: 192.168.2.172 (192.168.2.172), Dst: 224.0.1.187 (224.0.1.187)

0000 01 00 5e 00 01 bb 00 1e c9 bb 9a 50 08 00 45 00 ..^..... ...P..E. 0010 00 4d 00 00 40 00 01 11 d4 90 c0 a8 02 ac e0 00 .M..@... ........ 0020 01 bb 10 44 10 44 00 39 d4 6a 00 00 00 01 01 00 ...D.D.9 .j...... 0030 00 83 0f 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 1e 67 69 67 ........ .....gig 0040 61 73 70 61 63 65 73 2d 37 2e 30 2e 30 2d 58 41 aspaces- 7.0.0-XA 0050 50 50 72 65 6d 69 75 6d 2d 67 61 PPremium -ga

According to this page, http://www.gigaspaces.com/wiki/displa... , what I'm seeing is:

com.gs.multicast.request - the multicast address that controls the request of clients (when started) to available lookup services. Defaults to 224.0.1.187.

Why would I see any multicast traffic at all? I have -Dcom.gs.multicast.enabled=false set.

Where should I look to find out what component of GS is producing this traffic and how can I stop it?

thanks,

-dave

Hi Dave,

Where did you add -Dcom.gs.multicast.enabled=false? basically it should added to all your GigaSpaces services.
You can add it to your setenv.bat/sh (at EXTJAVAOPTIONS) and to your clients.

Is this happening when you have only LUS or after deploying space cluster?

If you have spaces running on that machine.

Even if you have disabled multicast and have not set the space URL in cluster config to unicast. It will make a multicast and unicast to find members of the cluster. http://www.gigaspaces.com/wiki/displa...

If you can give more info on deployment and configurations, you can more appropriate answers.

Thanks
