logging with slf4j and log4j

I would like to use slf4j and its log4j binding, but am not sure where to deploy everything. I have 2 PUs on Gigaspaces 7.0.1. Both PUs include a common jar file in their lib directories (it's this common code that is doing the logging). I have put slf4j and log4j jars into lib/optional/pu-common and have put log4j.properties into the PU's lib directory. But when I deploy and run my app, nothing gets logged. Am I putting everything in the right places?

Thanks,

David
