Topologies clarifications request

Hi, We are looking to try new topologies for performance reasons while having some degree of failover.

We are thinking of primary-backup with asynch replication between primary and backup. To my undertanding if we'll use for the space:

<prop key="cluster-config.groups.group.repl-policy.replication-mode">async</prop>

<os-sla:sla cluster-schema="partitioned-sync2backup"

at the same time in pu.xml then we'll achieve that. Is that correct? Does the space properties override what the sla cluster-schema name suggests (synch)?

I know that asynch replication is not fully reliable but we decided we can live with that as long as is guaranteed that a transaction on the primary is replicated all or nothing. Is that true for the example above?

Would you suggest other topology for what I described I need?

This configuration is correct. In addition you should change cluster-config.groups.group.repl-policy.processing-type to global-order if async replication is used between primary and its backup. See here: http://docs.gigaspaces.com/xap100adm/...

Hi Yuval,

Thanks. Is this also valid in GS 9.0.2?

Is true what I sayed about transactions: that I still need to be replicated all or nothing with asynch replication?

Also an aditional question. We'll have:

Machine1: GSM1, GSC1, Client1

Machine2: GSM2, GSC2, Client2

Client 1&2 are for fault tolerance and we know for a fact that Client 1 would be choosen if available (Machine1 up). How can we ensure that GSC1 would be used for the primary partition (and 2 for backup) in this case for performance reasons too?

Thanks, Lucian

Hi, Not sure if the default was global-order in 9.0.2. So it's better set it. When using transactions you can be sure that the operation will done in full on the primary or backup or not done at all. It doesn't mean that the primary and backup will be always sync. In order to control the deployment you can use zones: http://docs.gigaspaces.com/xap100adm/...
