Java SecurityManager use

Howdy,

I would like to use my own custom SecurityManager which grants more permissions than RMISecurityManager. I tried setting my own SecurityManager early on in my code, long before any GS code is called. This seems to work fine, except later it seems that SpaceFinder wants to install RMISecurityManager, attempting to replace my SecurityManger. Why does it do this?

If my SecurityManager does not allow itself to be replaced, an exception is thrown and SpaceFinder will not work correctly.

Is there a way to initialize SpaceFinder (or something else in GS) so that it does NOT try to install RMISecurityManager?

Are there any rules / descriptions in the GS docs that discuss dealing with a SecurityManager?

thanks,

-dave

I'm running as an Eclipse RCP application (which also uses GS). I have some additional needs that are not met using the standard SecurityManager, thus, I've installed my own.

Does GS offer a way to avoid requiring the use of RMISecurityMangaer if another SecurityManager grants a superset of the RMISecurityManager privs?

thanks,

Try:

jini://*/*/spaceName?securityManager=false
