Indexing on Nested Properties - Maps

I found this snip it of code in the documentation on how to add indexing to maps. Can someone explain in this example what is "key1" and "key2"?


// this defines indexes on map keys
@SpaceIndexes(  {@SpaceIndex(path="key1" , type = SpaceIndexType.BASIC),
        @SpaceIndex(path="key2" , type = SpaceIndexType.BASIC)})
public HashMap<String, String> getMap() {
    return map;
public void setMap(HashMap<String, String> map) {
    this.map = map;

Never mind, I see now that key1 and key2 are the actual values in the Map that you can build indexes on
