List of valid characters for type names

I wanted to use % character in my document type name, but for such type I'm getting the following exception in Swing-UI:

java.sql.SQLException: Error in statement [select uid,* from my%type WHERE rownum<5000]; Cause: com.j_spaces.jdbc.parser.grammar.TokenMgrError: Lexical error at line 1, column 51. Encountered: "t" (85), after : "%"

Is there any list of officially supported characters that can be safely used as type names?

This was thrown by the java.sql layer, meaning it violates SQL. There are a number of results in Google for java sql invalid keyword character, but I can't point you at any specific result.

Yeah, I know it violates SQL, but my question was about list of supported characters that can be safely used as type names. I'm asking this question, because % clearly doesn't work, but it is not mentioned by documentation as character that cannot be used in document name.
