What causes GCS to Unregister and Register?

Hi, I am using Gigaspace 8.0 version. I have observed wherever my application/GSC reached 75-80% memory utilization the GSC gets Unregistered and Registered.

I have also observed when the GSC starts logging Unregistered and Registered the application is not responsive and it halted which forces me to restart the application.

Could this be because the GSC is running short of memory or can be because of stop the world GC where the GSC was not able to register itself to LUS and gets timeout.

Kindly help.

Thanks in advance

Hi, GSC has to renew its lease with GSM on time, when its fails to do so its unregister and reregister when its can, This is usually indication of high cpu and can be a result of long gc. Memory manager itself might trigger GC when reaching threshold in order not to throw false memoryShortage exception. Anyhow, please review GC verbose log files to examine GC time.

Regards, Ester.

Thank you for the inputs Ester.

Yes, I agree. The this could be because of the GC taking too long. This usually happens when memory hits more than 80% of utilization and hence the GC takes long time.

Currently is am using CMS. I tried G1GC to check if that works faster for me, but got same results. I will check further to tune the GC params.
