Question on Transaction Manager

Hello,

We are building Rest Web Service to access a partitioned data grid using Gigaspaces library(Not openspaces). The grid is partitioned using customerID. Could you please recommend if we should be using LocalTransactionManager.getInstance((IJSpace) Space) or Jini Distributed Transaction Manager during Write, take, update operation?

Thanks, Supreeth

If your transaction may span multiple partitions - i.e. involves data for multiple customers you will need to use the Jini Distributed transaction manager.
If your transaction involves operations for the same customer - Local transaction manager will do the job.

Thanks for the quick reply.

When we perform write /update we will always be going to a partition(based on routingID which is set to be customerID) and updating one or multiple objects related to that customer at any given time. Just to clarify once again, can we go with LocalTransactionManger as this partition is being accessed from a remote web server using IJSpace?

Thanks,

You can go with LocalTransactionManger. If all transaction operations will be handling objects with the same customerID , local transaction manager should be used.
