Does one need GigaSpaces XAP to use OpenSpaces or will OpenSpaces run under the GigaSpaces EDG version?

thanks,

OpenSpaces runs with both versions of XAP and XAP-EDG, it is also included in the free community edition.

I guess the source of my confusion is in regard to deploying services on Processing Units... I have read about how OpenSpaces helps with this and how the Service Browser UI tool can help with this too. Are these capabilities supported by OpenSpaces under the EDG edition? Or does this require the XAP edition?

thanks,

-dave

Hi,

License-wise you'll need XAP in order to deploy services with your processing units. In EDG you are only allowed to deploy spaces with data objects.

Rats! That's what I was afraid of.... all the info for OpenSpaces makes it sound like it will deploy services and data, but then I just found the small print comparing different versions together...

I am impressed with this whole PU system....looks very cool.

thanks again,

-dave
