GetSpaceIterator MoveNext hangs() when called under Excel

When accesing a space from a .Net4 client the following C# code works fine if it's compile into a simple exe and run from the command line.

If it's compiled into an XLL and run launched from an DNA Excel addin the code hangs on first call to (iter.MoveNext())

        Query = new SqlQuery< data >("field != 'dd' ");

        SpaceIteratorConfig itConfig = new SpaceIteratorConfig();
        itConfig.BufferSize = 200;

        using (ISpaceIterator<data> iter = MySpace.GetSpaceIterator< data >( Query , itConfig))
       {
            List< data > tdList = new List< data >();

            while (iter.MoveNext())     // <---hangs where
            {

The read on the space can happened, but the results are never returned. We're struggling to work out how to debug the problem. I assume it's a JVM/Setup issue. But we don't have any tools which can help us work out what the problem is.

Could anyone point us in the right direction?

Why won't you use readMultiple instead?
How many objects are you anticipating to read?

What's your IteratorScope? Can you try IteratorScope.ExistingEntries?
