Basic Processing Unit Container and Interop PUs

Can the .Net portion of an interop PU be based on BasicProcessingUnitContainer and acquire its space proxy via XML, or is it necessary to create a custom implementation of GigaSpaces.XAP.ProcessingUnit.IProcesingUnitContainer and acquire the space proxy in code as shown in the example at: http://www.gigaspaces.com/wiki/displa...

Thank you.

Hi Dan,

You can use the BasicProcessingUnitContainer in an interop processing unit, just be sure to use to name the file pu.interop.config instead of pu.config.

Dan, In general you should follow the guidelines with this page. I just wonder why would you use this option.
Usually you will have a Java remote client that is writing data into the space where a .Net PU consuming the data and processing or the opposite: a C# remote client that is writing data into the space where a Java PU consuming the data and processing. Shay

Hi Shay,

Thanks very much for the information.

I am working with interop PUs as a step in teaching myself about XAP support for C#.

I guess the folks at GigaSpaces must have seen a need for the interoperable PU feature or they wouldn't have created it.

Hi Dan,

This is feature is not used extensively and only in special cases, It was created at the very first stage of .NET pu which in that time it did not support many stuff the Java pu had to offer and we wanted to offer the same capabilities as a single pu deployment. At the current stage of the product, the .NET pu is supporting much more and we didn't see a normal use case that needs this feature. So if at a future point you come to a conclusion you need this, please be sure you have come to this conclusion rightfully as this offers some additional complexion as you can see.
